JCPenney Pinto
The department store moped with a Puch heart

// The story
Yes, you could buy a moped at JCPenney. The Pinto was the top model in JCPenney's moped lineup, above the budget Swinger. It was imported from Kromag, an Austrian manufacturer, and ran the same Puch E50 engine found in the Maxi.
Every Pinto came with a chrome tank, a 40 mph speedometer and stainless steel fenders. The standard Pinto came in red or yellow. The pricier Pinto2 got snowflake mag wheels and a longer seat, in silver or black.
Like other American Puch-powered mopeds, the E50 came tuned to 1, 1.5 or 2 horsepower to match state laws. Owners love them because they're solid and light, and since the engine is a Puch E50, a lot of parts are shared with the Maxi.
