Puch Magnum

The top-tank Puch that looked like a real motorcycle

Puch released the Magnum in 1978 for the North American market. Where the Maxi was a simple step-through, the Magnum put a fuel tank on top of the frame, so it looked like a small motorcycle instead of a bicycle with a motor.

The early XK ran the single-speed E50 engine with spoke wheels and spring suspension. The MKII stepped up to snowflake mag wheels and hydraulic suspension. In 1980 the Magnum II swapped in the two-speed ZA50 engine, and that year's MKII came in brown and gold with gold five-star mags. That's the color combo behind our Magnum UPS tribute shirt.

The last one out the door was the MKII LTD: white and red paint, a front fairing and windscreen, and a numbered plate out of a limited run of 500. That's why a clean LTD still turns heads at every moped meet.
