Motron

Italian mopeds with Minarelli hearts and wavy stripes

Motron came out of Modena, Italy. Edoardo Po started the company in 1961 as Romeo, and in the mid-1970s his sons Ermanno and Adriano took over, modernized it, and rebranded it as Motron.

Motron mopeds ran Minarelli engines, mostly the 50cc V1 automatic. Starting in 1978, Motron Corporation of America in Palos Verdes, California brought them to US dealers, where the Sprint and the Medalist were the big sellers.

The American importer created the wavy stripe graphics and the Medalist name just for the US market. Those stripes are exactly what our Motron tribute t-shirts are built around.
