Honda Hobbit
Honda's little Belgian-built moped

// The story
The Honda PA50 was built by Honda Benelux in Aalst, Belgium from 1976 to 1991. Americans knew it as the Hobbit, sold here from 1978 to 1983. In Europe it was called the Camino.
It ran a 49cc air-cooled two-stroke with an oil pump, so no mixing gas and oil. US bikes came in two versions: the PA50I topped out around 20 mph and the PA50II around 30 mph, for states with different moped laws. The whole bike weighed about 99 pounds.
Hobbits mostly disappeared from American streets in the early 80s, but they're still huge in Belgium, where people tune them up with performance parts. Ours got the same treatment.
